Blockchain technology is not new, and Google is not the only company working on the Blockchain unit. A Bloomberg report indicated that Google has taken steps in this direction. The report mentions an internal email informing about the new division involved in blockchain and its associated technology.

The email revealed that Google is creating a unit focused on “blockchain and other next-gen distributed computing and data storage technologies.” Moreover, Google has selected Vice President for Engineering for Google Shivakumar Venkataraman, who has worked for the company for 20 years. As the founding leader of this unit, Venkataraman and his team will be responsible for leading new projects.
